This trail has a mixed terrain of low grasslands, meadows and lush pine forests as you make your way up the mountain. It is not the most extreme climb, but definitely a workout, especially if you decide to run it!
Around a half mile into the hike, you’ll come to a split. A sign will point you right to continue on Arthur’s Rock Trail while Howard Trail, to the left, offers a more challenging return from the top of Arthur’s Rock. Soon after this split, the trail will open up into a sweeping, grassy meadow.
Once you reach the top of the hike, take some time to enjoy it! Explore the different formations of Arthur’s Rock and search for the most comfortable spot to sit and take in the views of Horsetooth Reservoir, Fort Collins, and look out onto the entire front range on a clear day.
Dirt parking lot located trailhead. Roughly 30 spots.
